Damp in your walls?
We find the cause. Fix it once.

See what a survey includes
- Moisture readings taken at depth, not just at the surface
- Thermal imaging to trace cold and wet areas behind the finish
- Salt testing to distinguish rising damp from a leak
- How the wall materials respond to the moisture present
- Environmental readings for temperature and humidity
- Every test point photographed and located
- A written report within 48 hours, with the cause named
About an hour on site.

Rising damp and lower wall damp diagnostic survey
We establish the cause before any repair is proposed.
- Moisture readings at depth
- Thermal imaging behind the finish
- Salt testing
- Every test point photographed
-
02
Damp repair and waterproofing, matched to the cause
Rising damp, leaks, penetrating damp and condensation each need their own repair. We carry out the one the readings call for:
- Salt contamination repair
- Drying cycles
- Waterproofing where water is getting in
- Breathable plaster systems
- Chemical DPC injection, only where testing shows the wall is suitable
What a proper repair looks like
Paint is not a repair.
Fresh paint over damp only buys one season. A lasting repair takes four steps:
- Remove the damaged plaster
- Let the wall dry
- Treat the salts
- Fix the cause at the source
Only then can the wall be safely replastered.

Send a photo
One photograph on WhatsApp. No form and no name required.

02
On-site diagnostic survey
About an hour on site with a moisture meter and a thermal camera. Readings taken at depth and every test point photographed.

Written report and correct repair
A written report within 48 hours, then the exact repair the readings call for.
What a survey costs
The survey fee depends on the length of wall affected.
Refunded in full on work of €1,000 or more against treatment carried out by Dampfix.
- 0 to 5 m of affected wall
- €150
- 6 to 20 m
- €200
- 20 to 30 m
- €250
- Above 30 m
- On application
Minimum €1,000 of work for a refund
The survey fee is refunded only when the treatment carried out by Dampfix costs €1,000 or more, excluding VAT. Below that amount the survey fee is not refunded.
Repairs are quoted firm after the survey, once the readings show what the wall actually needs.
Prices exclude VAT.
Common questions
Diagnosis
How can I tell whether it is rising damp, condensation or a leak?
Rising damp starts at floor level and carries salts from the soil, and a nitrate test helps confirm it. Thermal imaging shows how the moisture behaves in the wall. Rising damp forms a consistent pattern rising from the floor, condensation shows as cold spots on the surface, and a leak usually shows as a clear thermal anomaly that does not follow a height pattern.
Why is damp so common in houses in Cyprus, and in Paphos in particular?
Many homes have no working damp-proof course, and where there is one, ground levels or render often bridge it. Many roofs, balconies and parapets also lack effective waterproofing, so rainwater gets into the walls. Paphos has high winter humidity and porous masonry, so moisture moves easily through the walls.
Can rising damp affect an upper-floor apartment?
No. Damp upstairs is usually penetrating damp, condensation or a plumbing issue.
What are the white salts or powder on my wall, and are they a problem?
It is normally salt contamination from groundwater. Older buildings, especially those over 30 years old, can also show salts coming out of the concrete, because sea sand was commonly used in construction. These salts damage plaster and attract moisture, so they must be removed and isolated.
Why do you test before quoting instead of just giving a price for the repair?
Different causes need different repairs. Testing avoids a misdiagnosis, makes sure the quote matches the real problem, and means you are not paying for the wrong solution.
Repair
Does painting over damp, or using anti-damp paint, fix it?
No. Paint cannot stop moisture, and the damp will return.
Is chemical DPC injection right for every wall?
No. It forms a water-repellent barrier inside the wall and suits solid masonry where testing confirms rising damp. Hollow blocks and rubble walls need extra measures, and reinforced concrete must be approved by a structural engineer before any drilling. Often a different repair is the better answer.
Is it safe to drill into reinforced concrete for injection?
Not without checking first. Drilling can damage the steel reinforcement in structural concrete. Where a wall or column is reinforced concrete, we do not drill until a qualified structural engineer has assessed and approved it. In many modern buildings a different repair is the better choice.
Will a dehumidifier or better ventilation solve rising damp?
No. They help with condensation, not with moisture rising from the ground.
Cost and practicalities
Roughly what does rising damp treatment cost in Paphos?
The cost depends on the solution needed for your property. After the survey, we provide a fixed quote for the full cost before any work begins.
Do you give a guarantee on treatment, and for how long?
For DPC injection we give a twenty-year product guarantee. For any other solution the guarantee depends on the manufacturer's specifications, and it is made clear to you before we proceed.
I live abroad. Can the survey be done without me being there?
Yes. Access can be arranged and the report is sent to you electronically.
I am buying a property. Can you survey it before I sign?
Yes. A pre-purchase survey can be done before contracts are signed.
Do I need to move furniture or be at home on the day of the survey?
Furniture only needs moving if it blocks the affected wall. You do not need to be present.
